IPS Prizes and Awards

the IPS is granting prizes for achievements in research,
to be granted in the opening session of the General Assembly.

1. The prestigious prize for a young PhD physicist, less than 10 years after his/her PhD.
2. Four prizes for graduate students:

  1. The IPS Prize in Experimental Physics
  2. The IPS Prize in Theoretical Physics
  3. The IPS Ze'ev Fraenkel Prize in Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics
  4. The IPS Ilse Katz Prize in Nano-Science

The prize rules, as approved last year, are attached, and will appear on the new IPS website.
Tentatively, the prize for a young physicist carries a sum of 10,000 shekel, and each of the student prices is 5,000 shekel.
Two candidates can be nominated for each prize by the chair/dean of physics at a member institute of the IPS.
The new Katz prize, sponsored by the Ilse Katz Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology at BGU,
is open for students in all disciplines as long as they are doing research on the physics of nanostructures.
The nomination for this prize should be done in consultation with the director of the nano-center in the relevant institution.
Letters are required by the chair/dean and by two others.
The complete files should be submitted electronically by November 15 to the IPS (Keren Daniel or Dikla Soae) at ips@phys.huji.ac.il
